Danny Jacobs wanted to give his wife a present for their tenth
anniversary that she would remember forever. He thought about
jewelry or maybe a weekend at the spa, but those gifts seemed
too generic. He then decided to give her a gift that represented
something they both loved more than anything else - pictures of
their children. “She gave me the world when she brought our
three little ones into the world, and I wanted to somehow give
the gift back to her.”
There are a lot of things in life you can be cheap with, but
photography of your kids is not one of them. It seems that every
retail store has a photo studio, and then there are mall photo
stores too, both promising to capture your family’s history for
cheap. The truth is that they do an okay job for the price, but
do the low paid and overworked employees of these retail stores
really have the talent and desire to capture the spirit of your
family? The answer is probably no. When selecting
a child photographer you have to be selective, and you
should never go cheap. These are the memories of your children
that you are capturing, and that can’t be left to just
anyone.
There are as many types of child photographers as there are
children. That is why you should carefully select a child
photographer that is a good fit for both you and your
children. One of the first things to ensure is that the
photographer is good with children. This seems obvious, but
sometimes parents forget that everyone doesn’t have the same
high regard for kids as they do. The next thing to look for is a
photographer that knows how to capture the child and not the
background. The sets can be an important part of the photo, but
they shouldn’t distract from the child. The most important thing
when selecting a child portrait photographer is to look at some
of their other work. If they have done a good job with other
kids then you can be sure they will probably do fine with
yours.
When getting pictures of your kids you have a several options.
For many years child photos were taken in studios. Almost all of
us have pictures from our childhood that include us sitting in
front of a setting sun or behind a fence. These photos were fine
then, but with the level of talent that is available now boring
studio shots are a thing of the past. If you do get studio shots
choose a solid background like white or black. If you have the
choice get a family photographer that can come into your home or
meet you in a natural setting like a local park. It has been
found that people are more comfortable in their homes and
outside and the pictures turn out much better.
There are some things in life that are free like the love of
your children, and there are some things in life that are just
as good at any price. There are, however, some things that a
parent should never go cheap on, and one of those things is in
the preservation of moments. Life is ephemeral and we can never
go back and do things again. All we can do is capture the
moments that are important to us, and one way to do this is with
a professional child photographer.

Before I had children, I swore my child would never use a pacifier. To me, they were simply signs that a child was just not very well taken care of. You know, Mom doesn’t want to pick the baby up and comfort her, so she just puts a pacifier in her mouth to quiet her. But, I’m older now, and I have three children, so I’m wiser too. There definitely are times when a pacifier is a huge help - not just a crutch for Mom.
As it turns out, some newborns just have a greater urge to suckle than others. If your baby is like this, a pacifier is almost a necessity. For these babies, the suckling they get from nursing or taking a bottle is simply not enough. My daughter was one of these babies, and unless she fell asleep while nursing or taking a bottle, that pacifier was critical to getting her to sleep.
Other children simply don’t need this extra suckling, and, for these children, a pacifier is usually not necessary. Occasionally sucking their thumb or fist is satisfying enough for them. Watch your child in those first few days, and make the decision based on your baby’s behavior. One caution, however; if your baby is nursing, you should avoid the pacifier until your baby’s nursing habits are fully established. A pacifier can cause nipple confusion in babies who are struggling with breastfeeding.
The problem with pacifiers isn’t really the use of the pacifier itself, rather overuse, or use of it long past a normal age. Pacifier use can cause serious dental issues, and should be used only for the required amount of time. Plus, the older your child gets, the harder it will be for you to keep it clean. Also, if your child relies on a pacifier to fall asleep, you will be required to retrieve it for him multiple times during the night, when he is unable to locate it on his own.
If your child uses a pacifier, look for the natural opportunities that will arise for giving it up, and seize them. For example, my daughter caught a bad cold at about six months old, and wouldn’t use the pacifier; because she was so congested she could hardly breathe. As soon as she started to refuse it because of the cold, I put it out of sight. Once her cold was over, she had forgotten about it. My middle son held on to his a little longer, but at about thirteen months, I noticed that just before he fell asleep at night, he would toss the pacifier out of his crib. So, one night, I picked it up off the floor, and put it away. Same ending - he never noticed it was gone.
If your child needs it, a pacifier can be a great comforter, and can make life easier for you, too. Just be sure not to let it go on for too long, or you and the baby can become dependent!

Are You a Sleepwalking Zombie?
Do you get enough sleep? Chances are you don’t. Many people living in modern industrial societies suffer from a chronic, and worsening sleep deficit.
Until a few decades ago, most people lived lives so very different from ours that we would scarcely recognize them. Until fairly recently in human history the majority of people lived in small villages or on farms, not in big cities. There were no electric lights. There weren’t any faxes or e-mails. There was no Internet, and no television. Once the sun went down, most of the day’s activities came to an end.
People worked very hard physically, and only a very small minority had what we would call “white collar” jobs. And most people, on average, slept nine to nine and a half hours each night.
For most of us today, an average of nine hours sleep each night is an impossible dream. In our very busy schedules, something has to give, and quite often the choice many of us are making is to cut back on our hours of sleep.
If you listen to, or read some of the popular current guides to success, you will usually be instructed to work hard, play hard, study hard, be more outgoing, and gain every advantage you can. The struggle to the top can be ruthless. Why, even the struggle to stay where you are and not to lose your place can be ruthless.
Where do many of these success guides and gurus tell you to cut back? Why, on your hours of sleep. They’ll tell you that sleeping more than five or six hours a night is a waste of time. They’ll tell you that the world is moving ahead while you are dozing, and that you’ll never catch up if you indulge your desire to sleep. If you snooze, you lose!
They’ll tell you that you don’t really need those extra two or three hours of sleep each night. That it’s just a bad habit you’ve developed. That it’s self-indulgent. That a full night’s sleep is the booby prize for losers in the game of life.
Unfortunately, this advice goes against thousand of years of human biology.
It’s true that some of us really do need only five or six hours of sleep each night, but those people are in a minority. Most of us require seven, eight, or even more hours of good quality sleep every night in order to function at our best intellectually, physically and emotionally.
In sleep deprivation experiments conducted on volunteers, it has been found that even a few days of sleep loss produce a marked negative effect on a person’s mental abilities. It becomes much harder to focus mentally and to process information. Decisions take longer to make, and are of poorer quality. Learning and remembering new information becomes more difficult, and it becomes harder to recall information that was previously learned. Creativity declines, while mistakes increase.
A person who hasn’t had enough restorative sleep will have difficulty handling technical machinery. In addition, lack of sleep causes emotional impairment and difficulty with mental processing. As people become more sleep deprived, they may experience more depression and mood swings. Tempers flare more often, and sleep deprived people become less cooperative with others.
Lack of sufficient sleep is believed to have contributed to many well-known accidents, such as the explosion of the Challenger space shuttle, the near meltdown at Three Mile Island, and the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl. It is believed that lack of sleep contributed to poor decision making in each of these incidents, with disastrous results.
If you add to these examples the many hundreds of thousands of other accidents every year caused by sleep deprivation, it becomes clear that cutting back on our sleep may not really be the solution for greater productivity we are looking for.
If you are studying for important exams, you will be better off getting sufficient sleep the night before, rather than spending the whole night desperately trying to cram more information into your head. Remember that your brain uses its sleeping hours to process the information of the day and to consolidate new memories. Cutting back on sleep in order to study instead will interfere with this process.
How can you tell if you are getting enough sleep? The ideal amount varies from person to person, and it is not always the same.
Ask yourself: When you wake up, do you feel refreshed, or is your body longing for more sleep? Do you rely on a lot of coffee to get you through the day?
There are steps you can take to improve the quantity and quality of your sleep. The first step for most of us is to examine how much caffeine we consume in a day. Caffeine is a stimulant found in coffee, tea, and many types of cola. It is also present in many over-the-counter medications. Caffeine enters the bloodstream very quickly and its stimulative effect lasts several hours. If you are have a hard time getting settled down at night, it could be due at least in part to an excess of caffeine throughout the day.
If you are not getting enough good quality sleep, make the effort to cut your consumption of caffeinated beverages to just one or two cups a day, or stop drinking caffeine all together. In order to have a more restful evening, don’t drink anything caffeinated after lunch. There are plenty of beverages without caffeine that you can substitute. For most people, a cup of warm milk before bedtime will promote sleepiness.
Some of us are physically addicted to caffeine and will actually go through withdrawal symptoms if we try to cut back, or quit using it altogether. You may find that when you stop ingesting caffeine, it takes up to two weeks to get over your physical craving for it. In the meantime you may experience headaches, dizziness and insomnia.
Another factor that can disrupt your sleep patterns is the consumption of alcohol. Although alcohol initially can make you drowsy, it suppresses the REM stage of sleep, which appears to be essential in restoring a sense of wellbeing.
There are many other possible causes of poor sleep. If poor quality sleep is a problem for you, it will be worth the effort to become a detective and track down the cause. Often the problems of poor sleep can easily be fixed.
A poor quality mattress will lead to poor quality sleep. So will poor ventilation in your bedroom. Or too much light. Or too much noise. Or a television set.
Are you getting enough exercise? Most of us today do not move our bodies nearly as much as our bodies were designed to move. If we have an office job we are often so mentally fatigued by the time we get home that we don’t want to get off the couch. Our brains may be exhausted, but our body still needs exercise. Have you ever gone to an exercise class, thinking at the beginning, “I don’t really want to be here”, but once you got moving you felt great? A lack of sufficient physical exercise will lead to poor quality sleep. However, vigorous exercise too close to bedtime can leave you too stimulated to sleep.
Sleep experts advise:
Keep a regular schedule for sleeping.
Maintain a comfortable, restful bedroom.
Don’t use your bed for anything other than sex and sleep.
Don’t have the television in your bedroom.
Get at least half an hour of physical exercise a day, preferably outdoors.
Slow down your physical and mental activities as bedtime approaches.
Cultivate a relaxed, calm state of mind at all times, but particularly before bedtime.
Avoid shift work.
Avoid stimulants or alcohol before bedtime.
If you try all these recommendations and you still feel that you are not sleeping well, you may have a medical condition that interferes with the quality of sleep you are getting, or you may be taking medication that interferes with your sleep.
For example, if you always wake up feeling exhausted, you may be suffering from a medical condition such as fibromyalgia, or sleep apnea. If you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night, anxious and unable to sleep again, this can be caused by depression or stress.
These are conditions that should be discussed with your doctor.

One of the best ways that you can personalize your embroidery
and make it stand out among others is to add dimension to your
technique. Dimension in embroidery brings your piece to life and
adds style, personality, and a 3-D quality that is uniquely your
own.
And contrary to what you may think, adding dimension does not
require intricate and complicated stitching such as stumpwork or
other techniques used in dimensional embroidery. If you can
embroider, you can add dimension to your work with just a few
simple techniques.
Here’s how:
Use different thread weights. Using multiple weights of thread
will give your embroidered piece dimension and depth that cannot
be achieved with patterns using all the same thread weight. A
heavier weight thread results in denser embroidery and shadows,
where a lighter weight thread results in a light, delicate
pattern. By blending these two together, you can add dimension
without leaving your canvas. While it may sound simple, it can
take a few tries to find the perfect harmony between your
threads so that the embroidery will look natural.
Use different colors of thread to create shadow.
Three-dimensional images have shadows, and one of the best ways
that you can make your embroidery seem three dimensional is to
embroider shadows into your design. You can do this by selecting
darker shades of the color of thread that you are using and
graduating the darker colors on your embroidery to create the
effect of natural shadow. For lighter colors, you can use two to
three darker, graduated colors; for darker colors, you can use
up to five darker shades of graduation. Practice using these
darker shades on your sampler until you achieve a natural
looking shadow. It may take a few tries, but once you get the
hang of it, you will acquire an eye for placing the shadows
perfectly.
Use textured threads. Wool threads, pearl threads and silk
threads all achieve a different result when used in embroidery.
By combining several different textures into your embroidery,
you can easily achieve a dimensional image. For example: light,
airy threads would be ideal for delicate patterns such as
flowers, whereas coarse, textured threads would be ideal for
creating structures such as buildings and houses.
In addition to these simple ways to add dimension to your
embroidery, you can also use different stitches to create
different effects. By closely matching your stitching style to
the type of image that you want to create for each aspect of
your piece, you can add a great deal of texture and dimension.
Don’t be afraid to incorporate several different types of
stitching, threads and patterns to achieve the desired result.
By using more variations, you will create an embroidered design
that is uniquely your own and full of dimension. The best pieces
trick the eye and give the viewer a little surprise of detail
each time they see it.

One of the least expensive and yet enjoyable gifts left for guests at a wedding are edible wedding favors. It doesn’t matter what type you eventually decide on a sweet option or a savory one, they will still be enjoyed. Chocolate candy might not be the most elaborate gift even if it does come in a special wrapper but that does not make it any less welcome to hungry guests. I haven’t come across many people that won’t eat chocolate in any of its varieties especially if it has a special flavored center. The wrapper can be generic if cost is an issue and then information about the wedding can be inserted so it can always be kept by the guests.
There is nothing wrong with adding a photo of the couple as well to finish off the gift to ensure it is something the guests will probably keep too remind them of the day. Why not have a tin filled with different types of candy as your edible wedding favor to your guests. Guests are more likely to hold onto the tin as a keepsake if there is a reminder of where they were given it so placing the wedding details on the tin makes sense. Tins are always useful so once the candy has been eaten, it can be used to store many small items that might be lost otherwise. Even people that don’t often eat candy will tuck in when it is an edible wedding favor because they get drawn into the occasion.
People that cannot make up their minds how to present the candy should consider placing it decorative bowl n the center of the table. You can also supply a small themed container on the table for every wedding guest. This way each guest can put whatever candies they like in the container and take it home when they leave the reception. One edible wedding favor some couples overlook is cookies which can also be presented in a variety of ways. Undecorated cookies are best because they are supposed to go inside a decorated box which can have the wedding day details printed on it.

Baby shower party game ideas??
This is the question
which comes to every baby shower hostess’ mind when she has to
plan a baby shower and also brainstorm her mind to come up with
an innovative game idea. There is also so much to be done in so
little time. You have to organize and prepare invitations, food,
drinks, party favors, schedules, and activities. You don’t want
your baby shower to be exactly like every other shower your
guests have attended.
The challenge is to come up with new baby shower games and ideas
that aren’t too complicated. You don’t want to spend half an
hour explaining to everyone the rules of a five-minute game. You
also want your games to be entertaining for your guests. When
the guests start to lose interest, the game is basically over,
whether it’s supposed to be or not.
Let the baby games begin!
The best baby shower party
game ideas are games that make your guests interact with each
other. People who attend baby showers all know the guest of
honor, of course, but they don’t all necessarily know each
other. There is a bit of awkwardness when the shower first
begins. It’s a good idea to come up with baby shower games ideas
to break the ice and let the guests get acquainted.
A great baby shower party game to play right off the bat is the
Introduction Game. The hostess starts by introducing herself,
then giving one descriptive detail about herself. This detail
can be anything. It could be her favorite color, dog’s name, her
middle name or even the last movie she saw or the book she’d
read.
The next person in line has to add their name, a detail and
repeat the name of the hostess and her detail. It goes on down
the line, with the last person adding their name and detail.
Then repeating the names and details of all the other guests. By
the time the game is over, everyone will have had a few good
laughs. And will have had a chance to talk to each other more.
Don’t discount classic baby shower game ideas for free. The Baby
Food Game is always fun for everyone. Simply buy 5 different
kinds of baby food. Remove the labels. Mark each one with a
number instead (be sure to write down which number is which
food). Prepare a paper plate for each baby shower guest. Write
the numbers 1-5 on each plate. Have each guest put a little of
the baby food from the jar with the corresponding number.
At this point, the tasting begins. Each player writes down their
best guess as to what five baby foods they are eating. The
player with the most correct guesses wins. Be sure not to buy
meat flavors just in case any of your guests are vegetarians.

I am a working single mother from the United States. I have 2
children. One boy(Cody) who is 14 and a healthy toddler(Mica). I
wrote this articleput up because I needed to do something about
the dangers that are currently on the internet. My son surfs the
web everyday when he comes home from school. I did not give it
much of a thought, since I use AOL. I specifically chose AOL
because on the CD is says it has a great deal of protection
against unacceptable contain and protection from predators
sexual.
To cut right to the chase, for several months my 14 year old son
was chatting on IM with what he thought was a teenage girl from
the same local American Idol fan club. He chatted and exchanged
emails for months with this “young girl”.
Last month, he made the mistake of giving our actual street
address and telephone number to this person. Not long after, I
started getting extremely obsene phone calls made by a person
with a distinctly older male voice, referring to my son by name.
Strange packages(containing unmentionables) were left at our
door steps. This made me frantic, I was at my wits end, I did
not know what to do.
After prohibiting AOL use in my home, I knew that would not do
anything to stop this. I was told about a piece of software that
would help me track down this monster and get this information
to the cops. It would not only keep my son safe, it would also
allow me to actually monitor what he would be doing online.
Rupert Taylor a.k.a amy13 is currently being held without bail
for a variety of charges.
I have been on a personal crusade to WARN parents and help them
keep their kids safe from predators sexual . These are the 2
products I used successfully to keep my children safe from
online predators. This man tried to molest my child online!
