I was at my grandma’s house the other day and noticed that she now had a large amount of foliage in the house. At first I thought that grandma was in no condition to be responsible for all of those plants. I mean, she cant even remember where she put her false teeth at night. How was she supposed to remember to water half dozen plants every day? I am perfectly normal and I can’t even keep my plants alive for more than a few days. Then I noticed something that made me feel a little better about everything. One of the plants had a tag on it. I didn’t think much of it at first, because plants cost money too, but then I saw that the tag was going thorough one of the leaves. When I went in for a closer look, I noticed that the plants were not real. They were silk flowers, and they looked really good. They hardly looked synthetic at all. I don’t know why they call them silk flowers. I don’t thing that they are actually made out of silk. I guess that they could be, but they don’t feel like silk and on the tag it just says that they are made in China. I guess that silk worms are actually from China, so it kind of makes sense that the flowers could in fat be made out of actual silk. Fake plants can allow for a person to make their home look beautiful with healthy looking plants. In any case, the fake plants really made my grandmas house look nice and homey.

The Colorado health insurance marketplace can be difficult to navigate. If you’re looking for health insurance on your own, you may be wondering, “Where can I find the right health plan for me? Where can I turn if I am denied health coverage? What are my rights as a consumer in Colorado?”
To help answer those questions, we have researched and compiled important information regarding Colorado health insurance. By taking the following tips into consideration, you’ll be able make a more educated health insurance purchase.
Things to Remember When Shopping for Health Insurance
Colorado health insurance consumers should follow the following recommendations when purchasing health insurance:
- Read the insurance policy and contact the insurance company or insurance agent if you have any questions.
- Make sure you review the section of your health insurance policy entitled “exclusions and limitations.”
- Find out how rates will increase as you age, and how often an insurance company can increase rates.
- If you are looking for a managed-care plan, check the provider’s directory to make sure there are suitable doctors, hospitals and other health care providers available.
- Find out if there are any “health plan report cards” available that assess consumer satisfaction/quality of care with various health insurance plans.
- Call the insurer’s customer service number to see how quickly you are able to get help.
- If you have special needs or preexisting conditions, make sure you contact a doctor or support organization for health insurance recommendations.
Colorado Health Insurance Subscriber’s Rights
Colorado health insurance consumers have certain rights through Colorado state law. Regardless of the type of health insurance coverage you hold, you have a right to:
- Insurance coverage for certain mandated benefits
- Know what your health insurance plan does and does not cover
- Contact your insurer to complain or appeal any decisions with which you disagree
- Receive a standard form outlining health insurance benefits for comparison between companies and health plans
- A written explanation of why an insurance company denies your health insurance application, or excludes a health condition from insurance coverage
- Coverage of emergency room care, if you believe you are facing a life- or limb-threatening injury (even if it turns out you were not)
- Prompt payment of claims
What to Do If You Are Denied Health Insurance Coverage
If you have been denied health insurance coverage in the state of Colorado due to preexisting medical conditions, you may qualify for the Colorado Uninsurable Health Insurance Plan (CUHIP). CUHIP gives uninsurable Colorado residents the ability to be insured through the state-subsidized CUHIP program. However, due to the higher risk levels of CUHIP patients, CUHIP subscribers pay about 30 percent more for health insurance than most healthy people. If you are uninsurable due to a preexisting health condition, you may contact the CUHIP administrator at 1-800-672-8477 for more information.
Remember to Shop Around
Health insurance plans can vary widely in both price and coverage. Make sure you take the time to shop around, ask questions and learn as much as you can about potential health insurance policies.

If you are thinking about getting wooden flooring for your home it’s critical that you understand what the wooden flooring terms refer to. There are huge array of online flooring retailers, and its important to understand there are various factors with wooden flooring which effect how it looks, and makes each wooden floor look unique. It is very unlikely that the wooden floor you saw in the showroom or on the internet will look the same as the final product in your home.
Part of the appeal of hardwood floors is that they are not uniform. One factor which effects the appearance of the wood is how near the wood is to the bark of the tree, this is called sapwood. The closer to the outside of the tree, the paler the wood will appear. The grain of the wood is another major factor, this can vary is direction and also changes in appearance depending on the colour of the wood fibers. The growth rings of the tree are also an important factor which effect the appearance of the wood. Tightly packed layers of wood are likely to result in a darker colour, these are formed when only a marginal layer of wood is added per year during a growing season. Other factors which can have an effect on the wood are mineral Streaks. These occur when trace elements are in the water, resulting in grey and olive markings. Knots are also a big factor in the appearance of your flooring, and are produced where branches of a tree have been encased, as the tree has grown. Often lower grade flooring will have more knots in it than higher grade.
The great thing about wooden flooring is its durability, and also the ease with which damage can be repaired. But as a natural product, as opposed to synthetic, it is also prone to expand and contract during changes in the weather or season. This needs to be taken into account when your floor is fitted.

Alternative Treatements - Peptic Ulcer
A peptic ulcer is a sore or inflammation on the lining of the stomach. Peptic ulcers are rather ubiquitous: It is estimated that 1 out of 10 People in the United States develops an ulcer at some time in his or her life. There are several causes of peptic ulcers. One cause is related to a bacterial infection, others can be caused by long-term use of common pain relievers, such as aspirin and ibuprofen. As was once thought, peptic ulcers are not caused by stress or eating spicy food, although these types of influences can aggravate the condition.
The bacteria which is associated with causing peptic ulcers is known as Heliobacter Pylori. It is believed that H. pylori is the cause of the majority of peptic ulcers today. It is estimated that 20 percent of people under 40 years old and half of those over 60 years are infected. Although one can be infected with the bacteria, they may not develop an ulcer. It is not known why this is, but genetics and physical characteristics may play a role.
Scientists are not certain how H. Pylori is contracted, but theories abound such as through flies landing on food and people eating it, and through contaminated water. It has also been discovered in the saliva of humans and this may be a major way of contracting the bacteria.
(Kissing etc…)
It is said that H. Pylori can survive the harsh acidic conditions of the stomach due to it’s secretion of a protective enzyme coupled with it’s spiral shape which allows it to burrow into the lining of the stomach. This in turn, weakens the protective lining of the stomach causing the ulcer to form.
Symptoms of a peptic ulcer include and are not limited to:
-dull ache in the stomach of a transient nature
-stomach pain occurs after eating
-pain when the stomach is empty
-pain is relieved by eating
-antacids provide relief
If you suspect you have a peptic ulcer see a doctor as soon as possible to confirm this. The treatment is often related to antibiotic therapy, but you may wish to try a natural approach called mastic gum. Mastic Gum is a resinous substance obtained from trees which grow in Greece.
Mastic gum, or Mastica has been found to be an effective alternative to antibiotics in the treatment of gastritis, GERD and many types of inflammation. It is a safe and effective against H. Pylori, often the cause of ulcers. Contrary to antibiotics, it does not destroy the populations of beneficial bacteria in the intestines, which are so valuable to healthy digestion.
The recommended dosage is two capsules, twice daily, between meals. Cases of a more serious nature should be treated for a minimum of four weeks. Mastic Gum is well tolerated and has not been known to cause side effects. It can and has been used safely by individuals on other medications but always consult with your physician if you are unsure.
The side-effects associated with antibiotic therapy can be unpleasant. If you are not familiar with them, loose stool is the main culprit along with improper absorption of nutrients, dehydration and electrolyte loss. If you would like to avoid these symptoms, give Mastica a try.
You may be pleasantly surprised!!

Assuming you haven’t grasped gaming room games of luck, do please read on.
The most common definition of a gaming establishment is a house that focuses on card playing. At such a place, clients are expected to gamble by having a bash at the slot-machines or plenty of other gambling pastimes. Betting hall games ordinarily include methodically derived chances incorporated which make sure the gaming hall reserves dominion versus the gamesters.
Far too many gambling house games can get you overly habituated swiftly. We can look at the archetypal one armed bandit, a coin operated machine with three gears circling if a lever latched onto it is operated. The gadget consistently reimburses in alignment with an array of symbols discernible on the dials on the contraption. Lamentably, betting hall pastimes suggest the mirage of power, effectively hoodwinking the gambler — the participant is challenged with choices, but in actual fact they cannot truly compensate for the player’s longterm odds. This is induced by the betting room never refunding the full sum as hoped for. This method is notoriously noticeable in well known casino games like seven card stud poker, dice, roulette or blackjack.
Blind Poker is doubtlessly an incredibly popular casino game. The players, studiously guarding their covered cards, make bets in a central pot that is then given to the winning participant owning the highest set of cards. (And yes, the coolest bluffer may well prevail as well…)
Much the same as poker, blackjack is also a very popular casino game. A sizeable amount of its repute is grounded in its particular mix of chance and smarts and choice making, not to forget a process named “counting”. It is a craft in which visitors will actually skew the chances of the game for their own ends both by betting and procedural actions in accordance with the hands shown.
Craps is a acclaimed gambling hall wagering game involving the roll of dice. Patrons bet on the score of 1 roll, or on a sequence of rolls of 2 dice. Contrary to blackjack, there’s no viable sustainable winner betting system players could capitalize on to improve the odds.
Roulette is another eminently popular casino based pastime — a croupier twirls a roulette wheel which contains exactly 37 (French roulette) or exactly 38 (American roulette) uniquely marked cells in which the rolling pellet will finally come to lie, which decides on the winning number When the gamer happens to place chips on any given number which is successful i.e. they’ve got a lucky hand, the promised premium will be thirty-five to one, the bet itself will be returned. Accordingly in totality it’s increased by a factor of thirty six.
We strongly recommend you be very very alert nonetheless because a large number of gaming establishment games of luck should be deemed rather dependency forming. An incredible number of lives have probably been damaged through inordinate gambling + whereas it might be fun, venture to govern your gambling.

Everyone wants to live a long healthy life, but few of us know how to go about doing so. Most people think that as they age, getting some type of health problem or disease is inevitable. This is simply not true! All of the major causes of death–cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung disease and injury–can be prevented by the things you do. The major change that you need to make is in your eating habits. The problem is that no matter how health conscience of an eater you are, your body will still lack most of the daily nutrients you need to live a long healthy life. Everywhere you look you will find evidence supporting the fact that it is impractical and virtually impossible to obtain the amounts of nutrients needed for optimal health from food alone. People that take dietary supplements know and understand this. They know that the most needed dietary supplement to take is a multivitamin so that their body can receive a variety of much needed vitamins and minerals. What they don’t know is the differences between multivitamins and which ones have the highest potency, balances of nutrients, and the best absorption. Many cheap, low quality grocery-store brands (and many brands available through supplement stores) fail at obtaining high quality ingredients for absorption and potency. With most of these brands, there is a high probability that the vitamin simply passes through your system undigested, or with a low percentage of the nutrients absorbed.
First let’s get one thing straight: If you are taking vitamins in pill form, then you definitely have not found the most beneficial supplement on the market. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against pill form supplements, it’s just that I know that your body will not get all of the nutrients contained in that supplement. Even If you were to buy the highest quality vitamin on the market, the fact remains that your body has to break down that pill to liquid form before it can be digested properly. When your body breaks the pill down, the pill loses its potency and if the pill is of low quality, your body might not break it down at all (in other words the pill goes right through your system without being digested). Even If your body is able to break down the pill you are still only going to receive 10%-20% of the nutrients. That means for every $100 you are spending on nutrients, you are literally flushing about 90% of it down the toilet. Why take your system through the extra step of breaking down a pill when you can purchase a vitamin that is already in liquid form that will bypass the digestive process and go directly into the bloodstream and into the cells within a matter of minutes? I have tried several dietary supplements in liquid form and the Himalayan Goji Juice endorsed by Dr. Earl Mendell is the only all natural liquid vitamin that I can drink without having to chew some gum to get the nasty taste out of my mouth. This Goji Juice has a delicious taste and comes from goji berries with the highest nutrient density.
Himalayan Goji Juice is the only liquid on earth that contains all the nutrients you need to increase your energy and strength naturally while treating high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, heart disease kidney disease, and a long list of other health problems. This juice contains four active polysaccharides (phytonutrient compounds) unique to the goji berry that come together to control many of of the body’s most important biochemical defense systems, and are of great importance to the smooth functioning of every cell in your entire body. The juice also contains 19 amino acids (including all of the essential ones); More protein than whole wheat; 21 trace minerals including germanium (an anti-cancer trace mineral rarely found in foods); Vitamin C at higher levels than even those found oranges; Vitamin E (rarely found in fruits, only in grains and seeds); B-complex vitamins, necessary for converting food into energy; Essential fatty acids (EFA’s), which are required for the body’s production of hormones and for the smooth functioning of the brain and nervous system; Beta-Sitosterol, an anti-inflammatory agent (Beta-Sitosterol also lowers cholesterol and has been used to treat sexual impotence and prostate enlargement); and a complete spectrum of antioxidant carotenoids, including beta-carotene (a better source then even carrots) and zeaxanthin (protects the eyes). Goji berries are the richest source of carotenoids of all known foods.
If you care about your health and well being, then you want to consume food and nutritional supplements with the highest level of nutrients. Himalayan Goji Juice will give you the nutrients you need to stay healthy and disease free.

You hear the terms integrative and complementary medicine often used interchangeably in the media as well as the scientific literature. Both terms signify a process of bringing parts together, to unify, or to make whole. That is exactly what integrative or complementary medicine does. It brings together different approaches to strengthen, maintain or reestablish optimal health. Complementary medicine incorporates alternative medicine aspects into mainstream medical practice. The movement towards acceptance of complementary medical techniques is accelerating as the supporting scientific evidence of its different beneficial properties mount and become more recognized. The narrow area of integrative medicine that uses specific supplements within mainstream medicine is perhaps the fastest growing area. As a practicing Internist for the last 22 years, I have always strived to run my medical practice based on scientific, proven treatments whenever possible. That same principle guides the use of alternative treatments that I offer my patients. I have always found it important that my medical decisions be supported by a systematic review of the literature that involves well designed clinical trials that support the efficacy, safety, cost effectiveness and outcomes of the treatment options. Most of these are from well respected, peer reviewed journals. While the scientific data and scientific evidence to support the important role of supplements such as vitamins and minerals in medicine have long been established, it has only been recently that we have seen a significant number of physicians starting to incorporate this knowledge into their day to day practice of medicine. Knowingly or not, these physicians are practicing integrative medicine.
In the information age we now live in, patients are better informed, more empowered and more involved in their healthcare decisions than ever before. Since sources on the internet and elsewhere vary from sound, well respected sites to pure marketing and outright confabulation, it is both crucial and wise to discuss any alternative treatment with a doctor who is aware of what has some science behind it, and what doesn’t. Some patients may no longer see their physician as their primary source of healthcare knowledge and advice, but still view them as a partner in achieving a status of optimal health. A mainstream integrative doctor can provide the best of both worlds with evidence based data to back him/her up.With the huge amount of information out there, it is always wise to seek an objective opinion from a knowledgeable source rather than trust the last infomercial that happened to be on cable television.
I believe that one important aspect of the growth in the interest vitamin and mineral supplements, and in the search for a quality integrative medicine doctor, is due to advances in diagnostic tools to help physicians actually test patients for functional deficiencies of critical vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes that the body requires, not only to provide the minimum amount needed to keep the cell from malfunctioning, but to provide the optimal amounts that make your cells stronger and healthier. When your body lacks the essential raw ingredients that it needs to operate properly, a cascading effect occurs that alters cellular physiology and can adversely affect any or all of your body’s systems, and in a worst case scenario, cause them to cease functioning properly. With these new diagnostic tools, physicians now have the opportunity to develop an individualized plan to treat the specific nutritional deficiencies of each patient. The cost of the testing is reasonable and often covered by many insurance plans. It is through technology like this, that physicians and researchers have been able to identify certain “over the counter” and prescription medications that can contribute to specific nutritional deficiencies by either affecting the absorption, distribution or excretion of nutrients. More importantly, it helps understand the negative consequences that the resulting deficiencies may have to your overall health and well-being.
During my career, I have developed a robust interest in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and have always incorporated specific vitamins, minerals and other supplements along with prescription medication to help my patients improve their cardiac health and attempt to avoid future heart attacks, strokes and other devastating cardiovascular illnesses. The evidence behind this approach is extensive, well established and respected, but unfortunately not widely appreciated by many mainstream physicians. In many cases, B vitamins are first line therapy for conditions such as elevated homocysteine, which has become an established marker for an elevated risk of cholesterol plaques or cardiovascular disease.Over the years I have often used supplements such as magnesium for my patients who have certain problems with heart rhythm, high blood pressure, high cholesterol as well as a number of other aspects of health. Fish oil, Coenzyme Q10, various minerals and B vitamins all have a wealth of evidence in the medical literature, and have been a part of my practice for years. More recently, I have discovered that there is a great deal of evidence to support a wide variety of other supplements or nutrients for a variety of problems. Nutritional supplements have always been a complementary part of my medical practice, and may help some patients reduce or potentially eliminate the need for traditional medical therapy entirely. Pharmaceutical companies have over the past few years come out with FDA approved prescription medications that contain only nutrients for diseases such as neuropathy, vascular disease, depression, cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease, prevention of prostate diseases, and lowering of high cholesterol levels. In essence, pharmaceutical manufacturers have adopted complementary medicine into their business models, and become integrative themselves! I have attended many speaking engagements, many sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, where the speakers spent significant time on the importance of the role that vitamins and other supplements play in the treatment or prevention of cardiovascular disease, or from the prescription medications used to treat those diseases. Well respected speakers such as William P. Castelli, MD, the former director of the now famous Framingham Heart Study for over 26 years, has extensive data to support the use of nutritional supplements to prevent and treat disease, and promote well-being.
With the new diagnostic tools available, I have become increasingly interested in the role of nutritional supplements and how deficiencies relate to many medical conditions. Now that I can develop a specific supplement plan that address patients personal supplement needs, I have found that both my patients and I have a more rewarding partnership in approaching healthcare together.Throughout the years, scientific research has shown that certain medications can cause specific nutritional deficiencies, and with the new diagnostic tools available in my office I have been able to personally confirm the accuracy of the scientific literature that says these deficiencies may indeed occur. Additionally, I have documented complications and symptoms caused by less than optimal levels of nutrients available to the cells of the body. As a result of the testing, many of my patients found they would require multiple supplements in order to replenish several nutritional deficiencies, and this is often at a very high cost. Since insurance companies rarely reimburse for such supplements, these costs are shouldered by the patients themselves as out of pocket expenses.
As I searched for the best options for my patients, I discovered that all nutritional supplements are not created equally! One small change in a nutrient can make a huge difference in whether your body is able to absorb 95% of the nutrients, or only 6%. And once absorbed, it may not be available for the cell to take up from the blood stream if it is not in the preferred form that the cell prefers. Just because both bottles may say, for example, Co-Q10 on the label, the product inside each bottle can be vastly different from brand to brand and even from bottle to bottle within the same brand. What I discovered was the need for my patients to have easy access to pharmaceutical grade supplements that were guaranteed to be high-quality, effective, and safe. Most supplements are not pharmaceutical grade, meaning that there is no FDA oversight and the manufacturer has no legal obligation to follow FDA standards for the manufacture of that supplement. This problem is what led me to join with my partners in integrative medicine to create our Essential-Nutrients line of pharmaceutical grade products for patients that are being treated with specific prescription medications for hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, arthritis, menopause, birth-control pills, and acid related disorders. Medications for these diseases may cause nutrient deficiencies with long term use that can contribute to side effects or hamper the treatment for the disease the drug was given for in the first place. Now I am able to offer my patients the ability to purchase high-quality, cost effective, safe, nutritional supplements in just one bottle that address the nutritional deficiencies that typically occur together as a result or consequence of certain medications, be it an over the counter or a prescription product. Because of integrative medicine and the Essential-Nutrients line of products, my patients now have access to affordable nutritional supplements that complement their mainstream medical care and enhance health, improve longevity, as well as enrich and improve the quality of their lives. Integrative medicine is a trend whose time has come, and does not discount traditional medicine, but instead builds on it to complement and enhance the patient’s quality of care.

The human body is exceptionally good and self repair and does a pretty good job of it, but this all depends on what you are feeding your body and if you are doing it correctly. We all know that a car run on dirty fuel and poor quality oil wont run as well as a car running on quality fuel and good oil.
So how is our body any different? It’s not….
Just recently I dislocated my left shoulder for the 3rd time and as a result was left incapacitated in my gym workouts. My specialist told me it would be about 4 weeks to a full recovery.
Boy was he wrong, I made a full recovery in just a little over 2 weeks and I will let you in on my dirty little secret that has enabled my body to repair at maximum efficiency.
It is not rocket science and not even complicated, chances are you have probably already seen these vitamin supplements around.
So what are they?
Anti-oxidants
HMB (beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate)
And BCAA’s (branched chain amino acids)
These three supplements work fantastically together in the body to help your body’s natural ability to repair injuries.
When your body becomes injured it goes into hyper-drive and starts shuttling all available nutrients in the body to the area effected to start cell and tissue repair. By supplementing with the three supplements above you can dramatically increase your body’s natural ability by providing ample nutrients, preventing muscle breakdown and aiding in protein synthesis.
HMB alone has been shown to increase the body’s ability to repair tissue damage by a whopping 47% taking only 3grams per day. Combined with the powerful properties of an anti-oxidant and the tissue and ligament repairing aspects of BCAA’s and you have yourself a real winner.
So next time if you are due for surgery or injure yourself in some way then try taking a look at the supplements above and you could very well be on the road to much faster level of recovery

Improving the quality of life through health and nutrition involve following a diet pattern and adequate levels of nutrition to prevent diseases and maintain physical fitness. Issues of malnutrition would be related to deficiencies of vitamins or nutrients and intake of supplements form an important part of disease prevention strategy and helps in improving energy levels (Papers4you.com, 2006). The use of supplements in disease conditions such as high cholesterol levels has been studied to understand the positive and negative impact of dietary supplements on the health of individuals.
For instance, vitamin A deficiency can be a major public health concern and many countries implement strategies to prevent such deficiency cases (Whiting et al, 2006). Vitamin C or ascorbic acid can be detrimental when deficient or in excess and recommended doses of Vitamin C have been given by various countries. Public health authorities across the world encourage individuals to change their health status by adopting new behaviors such as giving up smoking or changing dietary patterns. Apart from vitamins and minerals, fatty acids play an important role in modulation and prevention of diseases. However, maintaining a strict dietary pattern and fitness regimen could be explained with the help of social control and cultural values. Fitness levels are determined with measures on speed, strength and flexibility of athletes or even ordinary individuals and energy costs are directly related to nutrition, diet, exercise and physiology (Papers4you.com, 2006).
In this context the relevance of the gym culture may be studied as the gym going motivation may be similar to the motivation to follow a strict diet pattern and this in turn have an impact on general health and fitness levels (Bull, et al 2006). This is because any kind of rigorous physical exercise brings about thermo regulation that facilitates heat loss and regulates internal body temperature.
One of the important issues in nutrition and health studies would be prevalence of diseases and diet patterns and lifestyle have a direct impact on the health status of individuals. Smoking for instance has been related to lung cancer and heart disease by analyzing data on mortality rates, smoking habits, lung cancer and coronary heart disease and the health benefits of quitting smoking have also been established in several studies (Saijo, 2006).
An important topic of nutrition studies is life expectancy and health and disease in the elderly. The problem of malnutrition is increased during old age as the elderly may have inadequate diet and poor mobility that prevent them from following a recommended diet pattern. In certain cases, poor nutrition can lead to chronic conditions and poor physical mobility and the elderly would thus need specific interventions and effective treatment patterns. General studies on gender variations in life expectancy and illnesses have shown that women tend to live longer than men but also tend to report illnesses more than men (WHO, 2000).
