Mmmm - sugar! Who can resist those sweet, satisfying crystals of joy? Some people try to stay away from sweets, and some are quite successful. But for those of you who want to be a true sugar addict, here are my top seven strategies for increasing your sugar cravings.
- Skip meals. You have only about four hours worth of blood sugar (glucose) stored in your body. And if you skip meals, your blood sugar level will steadily decrease, until you feel tired, depressed, and anxious, and you will do ANYTHING to feel better. And what’s the best way to quickly feel better when your blood sugar is low? Eat sugar! A true sugar addict will make sure this happens by skipping the most important meal, breakfast. Skipping breakfast gives you plenty of time to get your blood sugar really low!
- Eat lots of pasta and bread and white rice. When you eat pasta, bread, and rice (especially the “white” varieties), your body quickly converts them into sugar. The effect is basically the same as eating straight white table sugar. And the more you eat the white stuff, the higher your blood sugar level rises. When your blood sugar rises too high too quickly, your pancreas releases a lot of insulin, and the result (if insulin is doing its job) is that you then suddenly have very low blood sugar. And what’s the best way for a sugar addict to quickly feel better when blood sugar is low? Eat sugar! (hmmm, that sounds familiar!)
- Don’t drink water. Yes, that’s right, DON’T drink water. When we are dehydrated, we tend to crave carbohydrates. And when we crave carbohydrates, and most often we reach for sugary treats. So don’t drink water and boost your sugar addict status.
- Eliminate protein from your meals and snacks. Protein slows down the rate at which sugar enters your blood, which means you won’t experience the high blood sugar - high insulin - low blood sugar phenomena described in point #2. So if you eliminate protein from your meals and snacks, and instead feast solely on simple carbohydrates, you will once again hop aboard the sugar-insulin train. And you know what that means - Sugar Addict!
- Make sure your foods include hidden sugars, such as dextrose, fructose, and maltose. The true sugar addict will seek out ingredients that ends in “-ose.” Don’t let sugar hide from you! Find it by reading those labels carefully!
- Tell yourself you are NEVER going to eat sugar again. Try to use willpower and deprivation to keep yourself away from the sweet goodness of sugar. It’s like this - don’t think of pink elephants! No matter what. Ok, did you think of pink elephants? In order for your brain to process that command (”don’t think of pink elephants”), it has to think of pink elephants. This works for sugar too. So tell yourself you will never eat sugar. This is the sugar addict’s favorite trick!
- Distance yourself from friends and family. Family and friends are a great source of inspiration and warmth - don’t let them get in your way. Don’t let ANYTHING compete with your quest for sweet!
If you follow these simple strategies, you will be on your way to becoming a sugar addict for sure! It is shocking how many people are not taking advantage of the lessons from 21st Century research on cellular health. The syntax of disease is known by many researchers; and many of them are telling you what you can do to protect yourself. They wonder why so many still choose to age and ultimately die prematurely.
Throughout human history, infectious disease was the leading cause of death. By the 20th Century, non-infectious ailments like heart attacks, strokes and cardio-vascular disease along with cancer replaced it as the leading cause. Furthermore, this occurred among the industrial nations, despite greater wealth, better housing and so-called, better nutrition.
So, whether you live longer and healthier than your parents just may depend, not on your monetary wealth or your medical insurance card, but on how well you know and react to the mechanisms of disease in the modern world.
While the message of ancient wisdom has also spoken clear enough, leaving us clues for the last 6,000 years of mankind’s history, our modern world has equally spoken. In a world that has the greatest scientific research available, men, women and children still die prematurely. Why? Is there a root cause for this effect?
To find the answer, just compare how many people suffer from disease and early death, while others live long full lives in radiant health. Why does John, an 89 year old man, who smoked cigars and drank a shot of whiskey every night before he went to bed still live, while Josephine, a tea drinker who never smoked, died of cancer at the tender age of 51?
How can that be? The answer must be there for all to see. Your metabolism must be unique; and, therefore, requires a unique set of solutions to maintain better health, stamina and longevity; meaning, one-size health care strategies does NOT fit all needs, except for one: The health strategy that is tailored to you and your metabolism. And that is one of the principle beliefs of healthy agers!
For some, that may be as simple as finding the right combination of nutrients that your body may be lacking. For others, it may mean undoing some habits that may be OK for your neighbor, but not for you!
These solutions, 21st Century style, are available in what I call, “Personal Longevity Technologies.” in direct obedience to the original, natural laws designed to protect mankind. Unfortunately, religion and science have not always agreed, haven’t they? And mankind has suffered many consequences as a result.
In fact, it was written in the bible many years ago, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, because they have rejected knowledge.” Please, don’t let that be you!
For sure, there is a wealth of knowledge about healthy living that is thoroughly backed by sound scientific research. And you can have access to this wealthy information to begin your very own wellness program! That’s right. You can devise your very own, tailored wellness program based on “Personal Longevity Technologies” and the knowledge of cellular health research.
And nobody is saying you should quit seeing your doctor either. Simply be more informed so you can help your doctor help you. You would be surprised how some doctors appreciate patients who take a concerted interest in their own health. When you feel good, they look good; but we won’t tell them, will we? It’s your personal wellness program at work!
For the record, I have spent multiple years searching for links in multiple research papers that provide information not found in your average health magazine. For example: Did you know that not all meat is fit for human consumption? Do you know what they are? Did you know that you can feed your body with the building blocks of collagen so your arteries won’t harden? What are they? And what combination of vitamins assist your body in its processing?
Unfortunately, on average you won’t find answers to those kind of questions talking to your doctor! Why? He or she won’t take the time. Furthermore, doctors primarily follow what the pharmaceutical companies promote to them, never questioning the ultimate validity of the research. That’s why awakening your body and mind to healthy aging is so valuable to you and the state of your longevity.
Choose the Cleaner Human Food Chain
It is amazing with all of the higher education available that many do not understand that the human food chain does NOT include everything that flies, crawls, swims and wiggles.
Putting organized religion aside for the moment, ancient writings like the Bible and the Koran agree on what defines food fit for human consumption, and what is defined as unfit for human consumption.
In reality, those animals fit for human consumption by nature eat grain, grass and roots. In other words, the animals are vegetarean. Their metabolisms are, therefore, designed differently than scavenger animals. If they were to eat like a scavenger, they surely would die of disease, just like those mad cows that ate cannibalized animal feed.
That means that scavenger animals like buzzards, snakes, crabs, lobsters, clams, mussels and pigs have metabolisms for being environmental cleaners. That is their created purpose.
When you eat a scavenger animal, you are actually partaking of THEIR food chain, including decaying, dead animals. That means that you are introducing into YOUR system much of the cells, bacteria and viruses common to THEIR food chain.
Some question rightly if there is a connection with the stress of the modern lifestyle with an unclean diet. While stress reduces the immune system, the unclean foods have
the ability to feed on the human host with its micro-organisms, thus compromising the human immune system’s ability to fight off disease.
While it’s true that modern forms of farming often break natural laws by forcing the land have a reduction in elements that are vital to human health, eating “clean” foods’ will certainly support your immune system.

Strict “no carb” phases of low carb diets have developed a reputation for giving dieters severe headaches. Dietitians have identified a number of different factors that could cause
these headaches. They vary from person to person.
One of the factors is caffeine. Most low carb diets prohibit caffeinated drinks because they cause fluctuations
in blood sugar, which can potentially
jeopardize the efficacy of the diet.
The Atkins diet suggests that dieters
begin scaling-down caffeine consumption
before they start the induction phase of the
diet to minimize unpleasant withdrawals.
Another factor is wheat and sugar addictions,
which can be the byproduct of reliance on
refined carbohydrate products for
a quick boost in blood sugar levels.
If you snack to increase your blood
sugar level, you may be addicted
to carbohydrates, according to
Dr. Atkins. Again, you may want to
begin scaling down your snacks
before you start the induction
phase to minimize withdrawal
symptoms.
The last factor is dehydration. If you
are losing weight rapidly on a “no
carb” initial phase, you are also
losing a lot of water that is bound up
in your carbohydrate reserves.
In fact, you are actually losing four-times
as many grams of water as you are grams of
glycogen (or stored carbohydrates).
In addition to preventing dehydration,
your body needs to replenish all of the
water it loses daily to simply maintain
organ functionality, flush out toxins,
replace electrolytes, and promote
good skin health.
Most low carb dietitians suggest that
you consume 8 eight-ounce glasses
of water each day. This is especially
important if you are losing more than
the average amount of water each day,
so make sure you are sticking to the
“8 x 8″–or whatever amount you can
drink comfortably each day–so you don’t
become dehydrated during the first phase
of your low carb diet.
The key to preventing low carb diet
headaches is to make sure you are consuming
enough water and to scale-down your
potential “addictions” before you
start.
If you have already started your low carb
diet, there is nothing you can do about these
headaches. Most experts suggest that you
simply wait it out. If they don’t go away
after four days, then you may have food allergies,
in which case you should halt the diet and consult
your physician.

Chamonix village is a one of a kind holiday destination with the famous Monte Bianco as well as tumbling glaciers. All of us enjoy going snowboarding or sometimes visiting the Aiguille du Midi. I usually fly from Glenwood Springs and stay at a Chamonix self catered chalet during my stay.
I used to went to Four Points by Sheraton Elysee Palace unfortunately it never matched its marketing: Situated in the heart of Nice, this property is approximately three miles from Nice Cote D’Azur Airport and nearby to the famous Promenade des Anglais. Local attractions include the Museum des Beaux Arts, Castle Hill Park, Acropolis, Museum Chagall, and Foundation Rothschild.Dining is available at three onsite venues, Caf??-Elysee, offering American-style buffet, Le Caprice, fine French dining, or La Piscine, located poolside. There is also a piano bar in the lobby. Hotel amenities include 24-hour front desk, car rental service, parking, room service, wake-up calls, babysitting service, concierge, and a large outdoor pool.Rooms feature individual climate control, dataports, in-room movies and video games, cable TVs, in-room safes, desks, direct-dial telephones, and alarm clock radios.
However in Chamonix the chalet is always outstanding. Even dining in my families’ favorite French restaurant, Doris & Eds, munching chinese chicken wings is a memorable experience. Chamonix is a big enough town to insure that there is lots of things for the non-skier to do. With a husky sledding centre and a number of restaurants, Chamonix provides a combination of snowboarding, French alpine charm and tourist attractions which not many ski resorts can hope to rival.

In a world where heart disorders and diseases are becoming more common, lets take a look at something most of us can add to our weekly diet for prevention of heart problems.
Omega 3 fatty acids, found in fish oil promotes heart health. A daily dose of fish oil has helped prevent, slow or even reverse the hardening and narrowing of arteries in heart disease in some studies.
In a 2001 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine, researchers from the University of Munich reported that a fish-oil capsule a day may “modestly” improve blood flow to the heart and bolster traditional therapy in patients with atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. In a study of 223 men and women, those who took a dose of fish oil per day for two years had fewer atherosclerosis complications such as heart attack and stroke.
Fish oil, found in fish such as salmon, it is a key component of the low-saturated-fat Mediterranean diet that has been linked to the lower incidence of heart disease in that area of the world.
How does fish oil work? Researchers are not ready to say, but one team of doctors used x-ray to peer into patients heart arteries at the beginning and end of one study. They found that after two years, the arteries of the fish-oil patients, on average, offered more room for blood flow to flow through, with less plaque.
The improvements were not dramatic, however the doctor’s team concluded that the benefits found in this study are significant enough to warrant including fish oil as part of traditional heart-disease treatment. At minimum, taking a daily capsule or dining on fish twice weekly would fulfill the needed amount.
Fish oil has also been found to help heart rhythm problems and can help to thin the blood as well. Research continues and always finds Fish oils to be helpful for the heart. It is certainly worth adding fish a couple times per week to the diet, isn’t it?

Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in milk. Cow’s milk
contains 4-5% lactose, whereas human milk contains
almost twice that amount. Lactose provides 30-50% of the
energy in milk, depending on the fat content (skim vs.
homogenized).
A number of individuals are affected by lactose in the diet,
but there is a difference between intolerance and
maldigestion.
Lactose maldigestion is “a disorder characterized by
reduced digestion of lactose due to the low availability of the
enzyme lactase.” Lactose intolerance is “the term for
gastointestinal symptoms (flatulence, bloating, abdominal
pain, diarrhea, and ‘rumbling in the bowel’) resulting from
the consumption of more lactose than can be digested with
available lactase.” In other words, intolerance refers to the
symptoms of the maldigestive disorder caused by an
insufficient enzyme required to hydrolyze lactose to
galactose and glucose.
Genetic defects often cause a deficiency of lactase, as well
as injuries to the mucosa lining of the intestines or with age
(as we age our enzyme levels decrease). When lactose
molecules remain in the intestine undigested, they absorb
water and this can cause bloating, discomfort, cramping,
diarrhea, and nausea. Bacterial fermentation along the
intestinal tract that produces lactic acid and gas is also a
characteristic of lactose intolerance.
It is estimated that one in three adults suffer from lactose
maldigestion and it appears to be inherited in about 80% of
the world’s population, including most Greeks, Asians, and
Africans.
Those who suffer from any discomfort after eating or
drinking milk products can consume foods labeled lactose
free or take an enzyme preparation such as Lact-Aid to aid
digestion. Do note, however, that lactose intolerance varies
and the amount of lactose allowed in a diet depends on an
individual’s tolerance. Some people cannot tolerate milk,
ice cream, or creamed foods, but they can eat aged
cheeses and yogurt (some brands are better tolerated than
others) without difficulty. Lactose products include:
Grain Products: Breads and muffins made with milk,
pancakes, and waffles; cake or cookie mixes, pie crusts
made from butter or margarine, French toast, some dry
cereals, and biscuits.
Fruits and Vegetables: Canned and frozen fruits or
vegetables processed with lactose, buttered, creamed, or
breaded vegetables.
Milk and Milk Products: Milk (dried, evaporated, nonfat, and
whole), yogurt, ice cream, sherbet, cheese, custard,
puddings, and whey and casein proteins manufactured with
lactobacillus/acidophilus culture.
Meat and Meat Alternatives: Meats, fish, or poultry creamed
or breaded, sausage and other cold cuts containing
nonfat-milk solids, some peanut butter, and omelets and
soufflés containing milk.
Other: Instant coffees, margarine, dressings, sugar
substitutes containing lactose, toffee, chocolate, creamed
soups, butter, cream, some cocoas, caramels, chewing
gum, some vitamin-mineral supplements, some drugs,
peppermint, and butterscotch.
Since calcium is a major component of many
lactose-containing foods, it is vital that individuals who are
lactose-intolerant receive adequate calcium from other
foods (in fact, milk is not an ideal source of calcium, as will
be discussed in Chapter Seven). These include almonds,
brazil nuts, caviar, kelp, canned salmon, canned sardines,
shrimp, soybeans, and turnip greens, broccoli,
strawberries, and leafy greens. Leafy greens are currently
under suspicion as a viable calcium source since greens
are now believed to contain certain calcium binding agents
that prevent calcium absorption.

Proper hydration is extremely important during exercise. Adequate fluid intake for athletes, even the recreational kind, is essential to comfort, performance and safety. The longer and more intensely you exercise, the more important it is to drink plenty of fluids. Inadequate water consumption can be physically harmful.
Consider that a loss of as little as 2% of one’s body weight due to sweating, can lead to a drop in blood volume. When this occurs, the heart works harder in order to move blood through the bloodstream. Prehydration and rehydration are vital to maintaining cardiovascular health, proper body temperature and muscle function.
The natural choice for hydration is water. It hydrates better than any other liquid, both before and during exercise. Water tends to be less expensive and more available than any other drink. You need to drink 4-6 ounces of water for every 15-20 minutes of exercise. That can add up to a lot of water!
While some people prefer the taste of water over other drinks, most people find it relatively bland and will stop drinking water before becoming fully hydrated. Water is the best, but it only helps you if you drink it. One of the reasons that sports drinks are so popular is the fact that they taste good. Many manufacturers only add sugar, flavor and color to attract the consumer, even though the drink contains no electrolytes and is simply flavored water.
The key to good hydration is drinking a lot of water before, during and after any workout or activity. Water is essential for proper bodily function. Sports drinks aren’t the only way to consume electrolytes. Eating a normal diet will provide the body with more than enough electrolytes needed for exercising and physical activity.
Energy drinks can be helpful to athletes who are exercising at a high intensity for 90 minutes or more. Fluids supplying 60 to 100 calories per 8 ounces helps to supply the needed calories required for continuous performance. It’s really not necessary to replace losses of sodium, potassium and other electrolytes during exercise since you’re unlikely to deplete your body’s stores of these minerals during normal training. If, however, you find yourself exercising in extreme conditions over 5 or 6 hours (an Ironman or ultramarathon, for example) you will need to add a complex energy drink with electrolytes.
Does the average consumer derive any real benefit from the sports drinks? It’s a marketing gimmick, pure and simple. Most health experts agree that sports drinks have electrolytes and sodium that are beneficial to professional athletes and marathoners, but have little value to the average user. There’s a certain appeal in drinking what Olympic athletes drink, but it should be just water if you’re doing 10 minutes on a treadmill. And because many enhanced waters contain only small amounts of essential nutrients, consumers should look elsewhere for nutrition. That’s what we have food for!

Personal coaching is a term that has become increasingly familiar over the last ten years. The term life coaching first became preferred in the USA where, together with Neuro Linguistic Programming, it became part of a revived wonderful wave of awfully proactive therapy techniques. Get help with stress management with a life coach.
In many ways both Coaching and NLP are a reaction against certain aspects of the person-centred therapy movement, in particular Humanistic Counselling. A problem of the humanistic and person centred approach is that it is remarkably reactive and not exceedingly proactive. Although all that works brilliant with some customers, with other clients long periods of no exit in sight or low return for time and effort occur. Success coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming are both person-centred therapy in stance, spending time on improving a person?s happiness rather than jumping into the depths of childhood, as in traditional psychoanalysis. Success coachings emphasis is, however, deliberately proactive and resolve issues.
Lifestyle coaching is not about telling the coaching customer what to do. This is a common misconception. Some performance coaches are comparably successful in their business careers and then make the change to lifestyle coaching, thinking that they will merely be required to share their pearls of superb success and wisdom with the lifestyle coaching customer. Sharing pearls of wisdom is more like mentoring an apprentice in a specific environment. Personal coaching is instead about life as a whole.
